Kiss Your Leisure Time Goodbye – FUNimation Titles Arrive On Netflix Canada

This past week, FUNimation made a sizable contribution of streaming titles to the fantastic Netflix service. Fans will be pleased to know that every single one of these titles has made it onto the Canadian service.

FUNimation has unloaded a flurry of complete titles from their catalogue. They include (as indicated in the press release) Afro Samurai, Basilisk, Claymore, Fruits Basket, Fullmetal Alchemist, Gunslinger Girl, Mushi-Shi, Samurai 7, and Witchblade. Many of these titles are available in HD, but users are warned that most of these are actually just upscales of content produced in standard definition.

Those hoping to use the service to watch anime in its original Japanese with English subtitles may be disappointed. Since captions and alternate languages have not been implemented in the home theatres options for Netflix, English dubs are currently the only available option. Those opposed to dubbing are unfortunately stuck with Paprika as their only viewing option for the time being.

  1. I won’t have an issue will the lack of English subs because I mostly watch English subs on the Anime Network VOD.

I’m still kinda iffy on getting anime through Netflix’s because there are no titles from Viz or Right Stuf, yet.
